Husband and Sister-in-Law Arrested for Plotting Woman's Murder

PATNA, INDIA: The local police in the Indian state of Bihar have successfully resolved the mystery surrounding the targeted killing of a 35-year-old woman, revealing that the victim’s husband and her younger sister orchestrated the entire crime to conceal a long-standing extramarital affair.

Initially, Indian media reported that Shweta, 35, was shot dead by armed robbers while traveling with her family from Begusarai to Bhagalpur last month.

According to the husband’s initial statement, armed men intercepted their car, forced the family into a nearby forested area at gunpoint, shot Shweta dead, and fled the scene without harming or robbing any other family members.

The unusual nature of the attack immediately raised suspicions during the police investigation.

Detectives found it highly unusual that out of seven passengers in the vehicle, only one woman was selectively targeted and executed, while the criminals left everyone else completely unhurt without taking any cash or valuables.

Shifting the focus toward a targeted contract killing, investigators uncovered a deep-rooted conspiracy stemming from a three-year clandestine relationship between the victim’s husband, Rajiv, and her younger sister, Kavita.

Case details reveal that three years ago, during her pregnancy, Shweta had invited Kavita to stay at her house to help care for her.

During this period, an intimacy developed between Rajiv and his sister-in-law. The situation escalated when Shweta caught the two together in a highly objectionable situation after waking up unexpectedly in the middle of the night.

The following morning, Shweta immediately expelled Kavita from the house and strictly warned her husband to sever all ties.

While Rajiv subsequently demanded a divorce claiming marital unhappiness, Shweta refused to end the marriage, determined to penalize him for the betrayal.

Fearing family backlash, Rajiv and Kavita continued to meet secretly for three years while Rajiv feigned compliance at home.

However, the situation reached a breaking point when Kavita’s family began mounting immense pressure on her to marry someone else.

Desperate to stay together, the duo plotted to permanently eliminate Shweta.

Rajiv hired a three-member gang of professional contract killers and organized a family picnic trip to Bhagalpur to execute the plan under the guise of a highway robbery, intending to marry Kavita a few weeks after the incident.

Following a thorough forensic review of call records and rigorous interrogation, the entire plot collapsed.

The Bihar police have officially arrested Rajiv, Kavita, and the three hired hitmen, and a formal charge sheet has been prepared against them.
