Talat Hussain unveils Pakistan’s Master Stroke

ISLAMABAD: Renowned Pakistani Journalist Syed Talat Hussian has unveiled Pakistan master-stroke behind the US-IRAN peace deal. On his X account, the Journalist has shared 14 points that were aimed by Pakistan during the peace process.

Among the first countries to call for peace talks when the first phase of the attacks on Iran started.

Condemned use of force without picking sides in a delicate balancing act on a tight diplomatic rope.

Used backdoor diplomacy with both Washington and Teheran when no country was willing to step in much less mediate.

Offered and convinced both Tehran and Washington to at least start the peace conversation.

Openly condemned Israel for consistently attempting to scuttle a fragile yet critical Tehran-Washington engagement and for its brutalities in Gaza, and later Lebanon, aggravating an already vitiated equation, thickening Modi-Netanyahu axis of evil but sticking to principles.

Managing clear and present dangers and hot fronts (India, Taliban, terrorism) and yet spending endless hours navigating the talks.

Offering several (not one) off-ramps to Trump and Iranian leaders when their rhetoric had pushed them into tight diplomatic corners, thus keeping the process alive.

Taking unusual steps (Military brass going to Iran for days or FM Munir sending letter to Iranian supreme leader, or PM Shehbaz appealing to Trump to hold his horses) to keep everyone on the right side.

Assisting and formulating mutually-acceptable statements (and even MOU narration).

Openly allowing new assistance in mediation without hogging the show.

Not leaking anything at any point in an environment  where fake news, tilted versions and even real insider accounts became a daily routine.

Keeping a low public profile while doing most of the heavy-lifting.

Reconciling conflicting interests (UAE-Iran) without losing  patience with rude, crude and even outrageous bursts of policy anger from traditional friends.

Calming nerves in Washington and Tehran when exhaustion got the better of either side. Adjusting to the stakeholders positions (e-signing) without becoming a stickler for detail constantly arguing from the start to the end that deal is the real goal, the path is flexible.
