Mangi Dam Attack: 11 Police Personnel Suspended Over Negligence

QUETTA: Police in Kharan district foiled a major sabotage attempt on Sunday by defusing explosives planted near the Zoomi Bridge in Patkan.

 

According to officials, unknown terrorists had allegedly placed an improvised explosive device (IED) near the bridge within the limits of Paikan Police Station. Upon receiving intelligence, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Patkan Police Station rushed to the scene along with a Bomb Disposal Squad from the Special Branch.

 

The team successfully defused the explosives, securing the area and averting what could have been a devastating attack. No casualtis were reported. An investigation has been launched to trace the perpetrators.

The incident reported day after of Jiwani attack.

Security forces effectively foiled a major joint terrorist and smuggler attack on a key anti-smuggling checkpost in the Panwan area of Jiwani, killing four terrorists, while two security personnel embraced martyrdom during the intense exchange of fire.

 

The targeted post was strategically established on a crucial route to curb illegal smuggling operations in the region.

 

Due to its highly effective role, the post had inflicted severe financial losses on the nexus of the terrorist outfit ‘Fitna al-Hindustan’ and local smuggling networks.

 

In a desperate attempt to neutralize this obstacle, armed elements from both entities launched a coordinated firing assault on the post.

 

However, the alert and vigilant security personnel stationed at the post timely retaliated and successfully repelled the attack.

 

According to initial reports from officials, four attackers were eliminated on the spot during the swift counter-action.
