Balochistan govt holds fresh talks with Ziarat tragedy victims' families, protest committee

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has continued negotiations with the families of the victims of the Ziarat tragedy and representatives of the ongoing protest committee in an effort to address their concerns and seek a peaceful resolution to the situation.

The government delegation is being led by Provincial Minister for Home Affairs Mir Ziaullah Langau and Provincial Minister for Health Bakht Muhammad Kakar.

The delegation held another round of discussions with the bereaved families and participants of the sit-in, confirming the government’s commitment to resolving the matter through dialogue and mutual understanding.

The government team also includes Senator Manzoor Ahmad Kakar, Bilal Kakar, Quetta Commissioner Shahzaib Khan, and other senior officials. The delegation briefed the families and protest committee on the measures and initiatives undertaken by the provincial government following the Ziarat tragedy.

The delegation focused o that constructive dialogue as the most effective way to resolve outstanding issues and restore confidence among the affected families.

The representatives of the protest committee and members of an all-parties delegation also attended the talks. Those present included Rahim Ziaratwal, Nasrullah Zerey, Asghar Khan Achakzai, Haji Dilawar Khan, along with other political and community representatives.

The discussions focused on the concerns raised by the victims’ families, while both sides exchanged views on possible measures aimed at ensuring justice, transparency, and appropriate support for those affected by the tragedy.

The participants agreed on the importance of maintaining communication to facilitate a mutually acceptable outcome.

The negotiations remained ongoing at the time of filing this report, with no official announcement made regarding the final outcome of the discussions.

However, officials expressed hope that continued engagement between the government, the victims’ families, and political representatives would help pave the way for a peaceful and satisfactory resolution.
