QUETTA : In a decisive blow against terrorism, security forces in Balochistan’s Kharan district have successfully thwarted a cowardly attempt by terrorists affiliated with Fitnatul Hind to establish a blockade, eliminating a significant number of militants in a fierce exchange of fire.
According to security sources, the intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in the Lajay area of Kharan district under the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign, Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-3. The operation was launched following credible intelligence reports regarding the presence of a terrorist group plotting to disrupt peace and carry out heinous activities in the region.
As the security forces moved to interdict the terrorist cell, the militants attempted to establish a blockade, but the strong and immediate retaliation by the troops thwarted their nefarious plans. In the ensuing heavy exchange of fire, security forces displayed exemplary professionalism and bravery, sending many of the “beasts” to hell on the spot.
Preliminary reports confirm that seven terrorists belonging to Fitna-al-Khawarij were killed during the operation, while several others sustained injuries. Security forces also completely destroyed multiple terrorist hideouts in the area. A huge cache of modern weapons, a large quantity of ammunition, and other military equipment was recovered from the demolished hideouts. Security forces also seized two vehicles and a motorcycle that were being used by the terrorists.
Security sources revealed that the eliminated terrorists were heavily involved in planning and executing various criminal and terrorist activities in Kharan and the surrounding areas, including looting, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, target killings, and plotting suicide attacks.
