Former Pakistan captain and legendary left-arm fast bowler Wasim Akram once shared such a riveting incident from his career, dating back to 1988 when he was enjoying his early years and making global waves with his lethal pace.
Recalling a tour of the West Indies, Akram shared that he found himself bowling to the legendary West Indian batsman, Sir Viv Richards. After striking Richards on the body with two or three successive bouncers, a youthful and aggressive Akram began staring down and provoking the master batsman.
In response, Richards walked up to him and issued a stern warning: “Kid, you don’t know me yet, I am going to beat you up.”
Fلٹینگ (Feeling) unsettled, Akram rushed to his captain, Imran Khan, to report the threat. Imran calmly told him to handle whatever unfolded while keeping his aggressive bowling style intact. Akram managed to dismiss Richards later in the same over.
Reflecting on the aftermath, Akram noted that after stumps were drawn, he retreated to the dressing room and completely brushed the matter aside.
Suddenly, someone rushed in to inform him that Viv Richards was outside, looking furious and demanding to see him.
Peeking outside, a shocked Akram saw Sir Viv Richards still wearing his batting pads, shirtless, wielding a bat in his hand, and glaring with intense rage.
Realizing that Richards’ threat of “beating him up” meant a literal physical confrontation, a panicked Akram ran back to Imran Khan for rescue, reminding him of his earlier reassurance.

However, Imran Khan’s hilarious and nonchalant response left him completely stunned: “What can I do? It’s your fight, you handle it yourself!”
