ISLAMABAD: An extraordinary and bizarre incident from cricket history reveals that during Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies, players inadvertently ended up eating fried frogs during a lunch.
While this revelation might shock and disgust many, the event is entirely true. However, it is important to clarify here that this incident did not happen to the current Pakistan team, but rather to a past squad that toured the West Indies.
The event dates back to 1977 when the Pakistan cricket team traveled to the West Indies to play a Test match series, with Mushtaq Mohammad leading the team as captain.
In honor of the visiting squad, Colonel (R) Jalaluddin hosted a luncheon, offering the players the freedom to select whatever they wanted from the menu.
According to sources, the players were seated at a hotel in a beautiful, picturesque island hillside area. When they asked the waiter to bring the menu card, the players looked through it and spotted a dish named “Mountain Chicken.”
Assuming it must be a healthy, meat-rich poultry option bred in the mountains, the players mutually agreed to order the “Mountain Chicken.”
Shortly afterward, the waiter fulfilled the order and brought out a large, covered dish. The players lifted the lid and eagerly dug into the meal.
However, after eating just a few bites, one of the players noticed the unusual size of the meat piece.
He immediately drew the attention of the other players to it, and upon closer inspection, they realized with horror that the roasted pieces were not chicken at all, but rather frogs.
The players called the waiter over and asked him in a stern tone, “We asked you to bring Mountain Chicken, but you brought frogs!”
With complete innocence, the waiter replied that “Mountain Chicken” is actually a local species of frog found in the area, which grows so large and fleshy that it is commonly likened to chicken.

Upon hearing this revelation, several players felt violently nauseous and fell ill from the shock and disgust.
