ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi stated on Tuesday that only two to three countries can be considered enemies of Pakistan, with India at the top of the list.
Speaking to journalists outside Parliament House, Abbasi clarified that Pakistan does not view all nations as hostile, emphasizing that the list is limited to a few states. He identified Israel and Afghanistan as the other countries Pakistan regards with hostility.
The minister also spoke about Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, whom he described as a respected political figure. Abbasi said he would advise Fazl Rehman to avoid making decisions while angry, arguing that emotional reactions can sometimes lead to wrong choices.
Drawing a firm distinction between political and personal opposition, Abbasi said he could tolerate political disagreements but would not accept personal attacks. Referring to remarks previously made by PTI founder Imran Khan about Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Abbasi said the language used was so harsh that it left him shocked. “The words used by the PTI founder for Maulana make my hair stand on end,” he said.
“Political opposition would not have been an issue,” Abbasi stated, arguing that the criticism directed at Fazlur Rehman went beyond ordinary political differences and became personal. “If they had politically opposed him, it would have been fine, but they threw mud on his personality.”
