ISLAMABAD: At least 15 children were killed after a fire broke out in the nursery ward of PIMS Hospital, according to media reports.
Sixteen children were receiving treatment in the ward when the fire erupted.
Initial reports said an air-conditioner compressor exploded and triggered the fire. The fire broke out at 6:45 in the morning.
Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the hospital and brought the blaze under control.
A female doctor managed to rescue one child from the ward.
Authorities have yet to confirm the exact cause of the fire and provide further details about the victims.
