Pakistan Links Bannu Attack to Afghanistan

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated that the deadly attack on a police post in Bannu was planned by terrorists operating from Afghanistan.

According to the Foreign Office, the May 9 terrorist attack resulted in the martyrdom of 15 police personnel while four others were injured.

The statement said investigations, evidence, and technical intelligence confirmed that the attack was orchestrated by militants based in Afghanistan.

Following the incident, the Afghan Chargé d’Affaires was summoned to the Foreign Office and handed a strong protest note over the use of Afghan soil for terrorist activities against Pakistan.

The Foreign Office further stated that reports by the United Nations and other international organizations have already highlighted the presence and activities of terrorist groups inside Afghanistan.

Pakistan also made it clear that it reserves the right to take decisive action against those responsible for the cowardly attack.

According to the statement, Pakistan held multiple rounds of talks with the Afghan Taliban through the mediation of friendly countries, but the Afghan Taliban failed to take effective action against terrorist groups.

Pakistan reaffirmed that there would be no compromise on national security and the protection of its citizens.
