QUETTA: A deadly clash has erupted between local tribesmen and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants in the Hanna Urak area of Quetta, leaving the region highly tense.
During the intense exchange of fire, local tribesmen reportedly killed several terrorists, forcing the remaining militants to flee the scene and abandon the bodies of their accomplices.
However, the firing by the terrorists resulted in the death of one person and left three others injured, spreading panic and fear throughout the locality.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, a heavy contingent of security forces rushed to the area and completely cordoned it off, with additional reinforcements requested to bring the situation under control.
Meanwhile, deep resentment has grown among the locals due to the perceived lack of effective action against the terrorists. In protest, enraged demonstrators blocked Quetta’s Airport Road near the BA Mall.
This road closure has severely disrupted traffic flow at the city’s main entry points, causing immense hardship to citizens and leading to long queues of stranded vehicles.
The administration has advised commuters to use alternative routes, while official and tribal elders are engaged in talks to defuse the escalating tension.
