PESHAWAR: Flour prices in Peshawar have increased by 100 rupees for a 20-kg bag, pushing the price of the bag up to 3,000 rupees following the recent hike in petroleum product prices.
The government’s increase in diesel prices drove up goods transport fares, which directly impacted food items, raising the 20-kg flour bag from 2,900 to 3,000 rupees and the price per kilogram from 145 to 150 rupees.
A flour dealer stated that they were already struggling with rising wheat rates in the country, and the hike in transport fares has made it even harder to sustain their business.
Amid the continuous rise in flour rates, local bakers have also urged the government to review and revise official weights and prices.
