QUETTA: Rising petrol and diesel prices have added to the financial pressure on low- and middle-income households, with flour prices also increasing sharply in Quetta over the past week.
The price of a 20-kilogram bag of flour has risen by Rs400, from Rs2,800 to Rs3,200, according to local traders.
Similarly, the price of a 50-kilogram bag has increased by Rs1,000 to Rs8,000.
Traders said the latest increase has further burdened consumers already struggling with rising living costs.
The price of flour has increased by Rs20 per kilogram in Quetta over the past week. As a result, households now have to pay significantly more for one of their most essential food items.
The increase comes amid higher petroleum prices in the country, which have raised transportation and other costs across supply chains.
Meanwhile, the impact of inflation has also become increasingly visible in weekly bazaars that traditionally offer relatively cheaper goods.
In Islamabad, consumers have faced a sharp increase in the prices of fruits and vegetables, adding to concerns over the rising cost of essential commodities.
