QUETTA: A survivor of the deadly bus crash in Balochistan, which claimed 40 lives and left several others injured, has shared key details about the incident.
According to local media reports, the passenger said the bus was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar when the driver secretly loaded diesel onto the vehicle without informing passengers.
The diesel was later removed at the last Frontier Corps (FC) checkpoint in Balochistan after authorities discovered it, leading to a heated argument between passengers and the driver.
The survivor said the bus crashed into a ravine shortly after the incident. He recalled regaining consciousness to find injured passengers and bodies scattered around the crash site.
Women and children were also among those traveling on the bus.
Meanwhile, the Balochistan government has ordered a formal investigation into the tragedy.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the Secretary of Transport has been assigned to lead the inquiry and submit a comprehensive report on the causes of the crash.
Government spokesperson Shahid Rind said negligence or carelessness would not be tolerated, and those found responsible would be held accountable in accordance with the law.
He added that authorities would provide full support to the affected families and introduce stronger safety measures to help prevent similar accidents in the future.
