JAHANIAN: Prominent Islamic scholar Nasir Madni suffered a heart attack while delivering a sermon before Friday prayers at a mosque in Jahanian, Punjab.
He was rushed to a hospital in Multan in critical condition for emergency treatment.
According to media reports, Nasir Madni suddenly fell ill during his address.
Witnesses said he recited the Islamic declaration of faith (Kalima) before collapsing from the pulpit while reciting it for the third time.
He received immediate first aid at the mosque before being shifted to Multan for further medical care.
DSP Jahanian Malik Abdul Majeed was also present at the mosque when the incident occurred.
