QUETTA: Shops and business centers remained fully operational across most cities in Balochistan, with routine commercial activities continuing undisturbed despite a strike call by the political movement, Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).
Markets and commercial hubs stayed open for trade in numerous cities, including Quetta, Gwadar, Khuzdar, Turbat, Sibi, Chaman, Zhob, Loralai, Dera Bugti, Kalat, Pishin, Mastung, Hub, Ziarat, Nushki, Naseerabad, Usta Muhammad, Panjgur, Dalbandin, Kharan, Surab, Uthal, and Dera Murad Jamali.
Local shopkeepers emphasized that keeping businesses open is vital for maintaining employment, transport services, essential supplies, and daily life, noting that those calling for strikes do not provide for their households.
Citizens expressed deep frustration, stating that terrorists operating under the guise of these rallies and sit-ins have already devastated the province’s economic environment through blockades, extortion, and unrest, while their political wings use strike calls for political mileage.
Shoppers added that while organizers receive heavy rewards from their patrons for such political theater, ordinary citizens cannot afford to compromise their children’s livelihood.
They demanded that the government bring these elements and their facilitators to justice to permanently restore peace and economic stability in Balochistan.
