AHMEDABAD: A video capturing the mysterious and spontaneous movement of water inside a well in India has gone viral, leaving onlookers astonished.
According to Indian media, the incident occurred in the village of Virparda, located in the Morbi taluka of Gujarat state.
Water in an 18-foot-deep agricultural well unexpectedly began to stir on its own, while water in all surrounding wells remained completely still.
Local residents reported that unusual movement first started in the well’s water a few days ago.
A similar activity was observed earlier in the week, which gradually stopped by Thursday afternoon before resuming later.
The exact cause of the phenomenon remains unknown.
While some locals speculate it could be linked to seismic activity—given that Morbi is situated in an earthquake-prone region—authorities have yet to issue an official explanation.
Morbi Collector and District Magistrate, Swapnil Khare, stated that an investigative team has been deployed following reports of the unusual activity, though no indicators of seismic events have been detected.
He added that while speculations about potential gas leakage have surfaced, the investigation team has not yet collected water samples, and jumping to conclusions based solely on videos without a proper scientific assessment would be premature.
