MUZAFFARABAD: The Election Commission of Azad Kashmir (AK) has issued a revised election schedule, announcing that polls will now be conducted in three phases.
Under the new timetable, voting will be held on separate dates across the region’s three divisions, while results will also be announced in phases.
Chief Election Commissioner Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said polling in the first phase will take place in Mirpur Division on July 27.
The second phase will be held in Muzaffarabad Division on August 2.
Polling in Poonch Division will take place on August 10, completing the final phase of the election.
The Election Commission said the revised sc
hedule has been introduced to improve administrative arrangements and ensure transparent, orderly and peaceful polling.
It said the phased election process would allow better m
onitoring of polling, stronger security arrangements and more efficient deployment of election staff.
The Chief Election Commissioner directed returning officers, district
administrations and law enforcement agencies to complete preparations in line with the revised schedule to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in every phase.
The Election Commission said unofficial and official results for each phase would be released after polling in that phase is completed.
It added that all election-related activities would be conducted in accordance with election laws and the code of conduct.
Political parties, candidates and voters were urged to comply with the election code of conduct, keep election campaigns peaceful and cooperate with the Election Commission to ensure a successful democratic process.
