RAWALPINDI: Security forces have killed 11 terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy group Fitna al Hindustan in intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Kharan and Washuk districts, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations were conducted on September 6 and 7 following reports about the presence of terrorists in the two districts.
On September 6, terrorists attempted to establish a roadblock in Kharan and disrupt local traffic. Security forces promptly responded and engaged the militants, killing eight Indian-sponsored terrorists, ISPR said.
In a separate operation in Washuk district on September 7, security forces acted on intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists and targeted their hideout.
“After an intense fire exchange,” three terrorists were killed, while a large cache of explosives was recovered from the hideout, according to ISPR.
The military said security forces recovered 2.9 tonnes of explosives, which were allegedly being used to prepare improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Sanitisation operations are underway in the area to locate and eliminate any other terrorists who may still be present, ISPR said.
The military reiterated that the counterterrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue at full pace.
The campaign, it said, aims to eliminate the threat of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
