COAS Chairs 276th CCC; Vows Action Against Terror and Hybrid Threats

RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), presided over the 276th Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday.

According to the ISPR, The high-level military forum reviewed the prevailing security environment and expressed complete satisfaction with the operational preparedness, professionalism, and combat readiness of the Pakistan Armed Forces.

The session commenced with Fateha for the Shuhada (martyrs) of the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies, and innocent civilians.

Countering Cross-Border Terrorism

The Forum raised serious concerns regarding the persistent use of Afghan Taliban-controlled territory by Indian-sponsored terrorist groups—specifically Fitna al Khawarij (FAK) and Fitna al Hindustan (FAH)—to execute attacks inside Pakistan.

Holding the Afghan Taliban regime directly responsible for preventing its soil from being used by hostile proxies, the Forum asserted Pakistan’s unequivocal right to defend its citizens.

It was resolved that targeted Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) would aggressively continue under the ambit of Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq.

Beyond kinetic military operations, the military leadership emphasized the urgent need for robust governance structures in restive regions to ensure public welfare and dismantle the terror-crime nexus that thrives under vested political patronage.

Thwarting Hybrid Warfare and Disinformation

Following the comprehensive defeat inflicted upon miscreants in Maark-e-Haq, the Forum observed an increased reliance by adversaries on evolving hybrid warfare and state-sponsored disinformation campaigns designed to cause internal unrest.

The leadership condemned all forms of external financing and facilitation of proxies, underscoring that any attempts to destabilize the state would be countered with strategic clarity and firm resolve.

Water Security and Regional Stance

Addressing external challenges, the Forum took strong note of Indian rhetoric surrounding the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT). Reaffirming the National Security Committee (NSC) directive of April 24, 2025, the military leadership expressed a resolute commitment to securing Pakistan’s rightful share of water.

On the regional front, the CCC appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting dialogue and de-escalation. However, it strongly condemned the ongoing human rights violations and unilateral demographic engineering in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Reaffirming that Kashmir remains the “jugular vein” of Pakistan, the Forum stressed that regional stability relies entirely on granting Kashmiris their right to self-determination as per UN Security Council resolutions.

Directives for Transformation

In his concluding remarks, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir directed commanders to expeditiously execute the military’s multi-domain transformation plan to match the evolving character of modern warfare.

He urged commanders to maintain the highest standards of vigilance and professional excellence, emphasizing integrated responses to conventional, sub-conventional, and hybrid threats to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty at all costs.
