MASTUNG : Unidentified armed men opened fire on a police patrol near the Stadium Road cemetery in Mastung late on Sunday, triggering an immediate retaliatory response from law enforcement, officials said.
According to police sources, the assailants fired multiple rounds at the officers before police returned fire, forcing the attackers to flee the scene. The exchange lasted several minutes, but no casualties or injuries were reported on either side.
Following the incident, police cordoned off the area and launched a comprehensive search operation to track down the fleeing suspects. Security has been tightened in and around Mastung, with checkpoints established on key routes.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. An investigation is underway to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the assault.

In a move to bolster law and order in the region, the Home Department of Balochistan, acting on the directives of the Chief Minister, has decided to establish a joint security check post in Kali Babri, Hanna-e-Aurak.
According to an official announcement by Babar Yousafzai, Assistant to the Home Department, the new post will be jointly manned by the police and the Frontier Corps (FC). The decision comes after the local population offered land for the facility, aiming to make security operations more effective through community cooperation.
The Home Department has issued formal instructions to both the Police and FC authorities to submit a comprehensive joint report at the earliest. The report must detail the proposed location, required personnel, and necessary resources for the operationalisation of the check post
