SWAT: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Swat unit president Samiullah was shot dead in a targeted attack while attending a funeral in the Chapriyal area of Tehsil Matta, police confirmed.
According to Express News, unidentified gunmen opened fire on Samiullah during the funeral ceremony, killing him on the spot and injuring another person. The injured was immediately shifted to Matta Hospital and later referred to Saidu Sharif Hospital for further treatment, where he is currently receiving medical care.
Upon hearing the news, the deceased’s elder brother and close friend Najibullah fainted from shock and were taken to Matta Hospital. Doctors have stated that both are now out of danger.
Police have registered a case and launched a search operation for the assailants. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
PPP Central Spokesperson Shazia Marri strongly condemned the killing, calling Samiullah’s sacrifice an “irreparable loss” for the party. She demanded the immediate arrest of the killers and justice for the deceased. Marri also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the elevation of Samiullah’s rank.
