NEW DELHI: Anti-Muslim actions reportedly continue unabated in India, with authorities in the state of Uttar Pradesh UP demolishing at least five more mosques, citing legal violations. This comes amid a broader crackdown that has allegedly seen 23 mosques, madrasas, and shrines razed over the past month and a half.
Government leaders have stated that the mosque buildings were constructed illegally without proper permission. Indian authorities maintain that all actions are being carried out in accordance with legal and administrative regulations, denying any religious targeting. Critics, however, point to a pattern of such demolitions occurring previously in “Modi’s India,” raising concerns about the safety of religious minorities. The recent spike in demolitions has sparked widespread criticism, with observers noting that such actions exacerbate communal tensions and undermine religious freedoms.
