Karachi Police Crack Year’s Biggest Heist: 200 Million Recovered

KARACHI: The District Central Police have successfully resolved the largest heist of the year, arresting the central mastermind of a notorious inter-provincial gang and recovering 200 million PKR of the looted cash.

The incident took place on June 12, 2026, within the jurisdiction of the Joharabad police station, where suspects fled with 300 million PKR from a security company’s cash transit van.

Following the initial arrest of three suspects, interrogation pointed investigators toward the operations mastermind, Muhammad Ali (alias “Ali Langra”).

Acting on this breakthrough, police apprehended Ali and recovered 200 million PKR along with a Vigo truck and a Pixis car used in the crime.

The swift resolution follows the formation of a specialized investigation team constituted by DIG West Zone Irfan Baloch and led by SSP District Central Dr. Muhammad Imran Khan.

During the initial probe, the security company cash van’s chief crew member, Wajid (son of Mir Lala), was found directly complicit in the heist. A formal case was registered against him after concrete evidence was compiled.

The investigation revealed that Muhammad Ali had meticulously planned the heist and concealed the stolen millions across two separate residences.

The inter-provincial network consists of over a dozen members heavily involved in dozens of bank robberies over several years across major cities including Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Quetta, and Multan.

According to officials, the arrested ringleader originally hails from Swat but has been based in Karachi running criminal operations.

He has a prior criminal record involving bank robberies, locker-tampering, and the theft of gold and foreign currency.

Authorities noted that the remaining at-large suspects originate from Parachinar (Kurram District, KP) and escaped with the remaining portion of the stolen cash.

Dedicated police teams have been mobilized to apprehend the fleeing accomplices and recover the remaining balance.
