QUETTA: Recent armed attacks and growing security concerns in Balochistan province have fueled fear and uncertainty among local residents, with many saying their daily lives, travel and livelihoods have been affected.
Authorities have tightened security measures across several districts following recent incidents. The restrictions have disrupted movement on highways, commercial activity and routine travel in some areas.
A resident of Mastung, who requested anonymity due to security concerns, said each new incident deepens public anxiety.
“People become more fearful after every attack,” he said. “Many avoid unnecessary travel because they are worried about their safety.”
In Turbat, a local trader, identified as Abdul Karim, said BLA incidents often hurt business activity.
“Whenever news of an attack emerges, fewer customers come to the markets,” he said. “People focus on their safety first, and businesses suffer.”
A university student from Gwadar said young people want stability so they can focus on their education and future careers.
“We want peaceful conditions,” he said. “The constant uncertainty creates stress for many young people.”
Local social workers said ordinary civilians bear the greatest burden of violence and instability despite having no direct involvement in the conflict.
They said security concerns have affected educational activities, business initiatives and employment opportunities in some areas.
Analysts said lasting peace, political stability and economic development are essential to addressing the challenges facing Balochistan’s population.
They noted that recurring security incidents create uncertainty that affects not only local communities but also the province’s broader economic and social development.

Residents urged the government and all relevant stakeholders to take effective measures to improve security and restore public confidence.
They said the people of Balochistan seek peace, education, employment and development, and want to live without fear and uncertainty.
