JACOBABAD : Days after armed men stormed a village in Jacobabad and set dozens of houses on fire over an arranged marriage, affected families remain without shelter, forced to live under the open sky in scorching heat, as police struggle to arrest all the accused.
The horrific incident took place on May 5 in Goth Muhammad Siddiq Arain, Jacobabad, where armed men burned dozens of homes to ashes. Witnesses said the attackers were firing with modern weapons, terrorizing residents before setting the village ablaze.
According to SSP Jacobabad Faizan Ali, initial investigations revealed that a couple from village Siddiq Arain and village Ghazi Khan Channa had an arranged marriage in a Hyderabad court. Enraged by the union, the accused set the entire village on fire as a form of collective punishment.
Police have since raided various locations and arrested five suspects. A case has been registered against 12 named and 20 unknown accused under anti-terrorism provisions. A special team has been formed to arrest the remaining suspects and continue the investigation.
However, despite the passage of several days, affected families remain deeply worried as not all accused have been arrested. The arson has left dozens of families homeless. With no relief in sight, they are still forced to live under the open sky in Jacobabad’s extreme heat, awaiting justice and shelter.
