LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has confirmed her government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, stating that there is no place in the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) for officials who misuse their authority.
She focused on that the credibility and reputation of the institution would not be compromised under any circumstances.
The statements were made while chairing a high-level meeting to review the performance of PERA. During the meeting, officials presented a detailed briefing on the authority’s overall performance, digital transformation initiatives, and future operational strategy.
The Chief Minister also directed the relevant authorities to further enhance the functionality of the PERA digital portal and improve the institution’s public engagement and communication mechanisms.
Maryam Nawaz said PERA’s 99 percent conviction rate reflects its effective enforcement and commitment to implementing the law. She stressed that corruption and the misuse of authority would not be tolerated and instructed officials to ensure that all enforcement actions are carried out strictly in accordance with PERA requisition rules.
The Chief Minister also called for an end to the culture of resistance against legal action, emphasizing that the rule of law must be upheld without exception.
She made it clear that transfers of investigation officers would not be influenced by recommendations or political pressure, reinforcing the government’s commitment to merit-based administration.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz shared updates on the authority’s institutional development. She announced that work has already begun on the PERA Training Academy in Kallar Kahar.
She further stated that permanent recruitment within the authority is expected to be completed by June 2027, aimed at strengthening its operational capacity and professional standards.
