The wife of a martyred Pakistan Navy officer has transformed personal loss into a remarkable story of courage and determination by earning a commission as an officer in the Pakistan Navy.
Alveera Hamza, the widow of Shaheed Lieutenant Commander Hamza Abid, has successfully joined the Pakistan Navy as a commissioned officer after completing her training with distinction. She also secured the prestigious Commandant Gold Medal and has been inducted into the Navy’s Information Technology branch.
In this regard, Alveera Hamza said that the martyrdom of her husband inspired her to join the Pakistan Navy. She said that seeing her husband in uniform had always filled her with pride, and wearing a similar uniform today while standing in the same institution is an emotional and unforgettable moment for both her and her daughter.
She added that the experience of training at the Pakistan Naval Academy was memorable and rewarding. The opportunity to serve the country in the same force as her late husband is an honour that cannot be fully expressed in words.
Alveera Hamza also delivered an inspiring message to young women across Pakistan. She encouraged girls to pursue careers in the armed forces, saying that if she could overcome immense personal challenges while raising a daughter, other women could also serve the nation with confidence and determination.
In this sense, Alveera Hamza’s achievement has been widely viewed as a powerful symbol of courage, perseverance, and patriotism. Her story not only honours the legacy of Shaheed Lieutenant Commander Hamza Abid but also serves as a source of inspiration for Pakistani women aspiring to contribute to national service.
