Vawda Demands Dar’s Resignation Over Abuse Scandal

ISLAMABAD : Senator Faisal Vawda has demanded the immediate resignation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, leveling serious allegations against him and the government in a fiery social media post.

Vawda accused Dar of running Pakistan “like a family corporation,” while also taking a swipe at the country’s foreign policy apparatus. He claimed that a close relative of the Deputy Prime Minister was involved in allegations of rape, torture, and extortion involving foreign women invited to Pakistan. According to Vawda, the suspect’s arrest was carried out “probably with the intervention of the relevant foreign embassy.”

The Senator alleged that the government is actively suppressing the incident and attempting to limit the legal case to extortion rather than rape. He noted that a statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which he claimed should have been recorded by now, has not yet come to light.

In a broader attack, Vawda lamented that the country’s elite class has taken over in the name of democracy. He stated, “Some democratic funerals were robbing the country for many years and now they are robbing the honor as well.” He expressed regret that the fate of Pakistanis lies in the hands of the descendants of these so-called “democratic funerals.”

Vawda also criticized the political establishment for its silence, saying the nation has not seen a single condemnatory statement from any political party, whether in government, opposition, or alliance. He specifically called out “so-called champions of women’s rights” for remaining mute on the issue.
