QUETTA: Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) against terrorists of Fitna al-Hindustan in Balochistan’s Kalat district on Wednesday.
According to details, security forces launched the intelligence-based operation on confirmed reports of the presence of terrorists belonging to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in Noroz Kalat. The Fitna Al-Hindustan Terrorists attempted to block roads, extort civilians, and carry out looting.
During the operation, security forces exchanged fire with the militants and eliminated two terrorists of the internationally designated terrorist group. The terrorists planned to blow up a bridge, isolate Kharan City, and target innocent people. Swift action by FC Balochistan (South) thwarted the attack and prevented large-scale destruction.
Security forces also recovered 200 kilograms of explosives, submachine guns (SMGs), and a large cache of weapons and ammunition during the operation.
Earlier today, police in Lower Dir Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have killed six militants associated with Fitna al Khawarij in the Barcharai Talash area of the district.
Acting on a tip-off, district police, Elite Force, and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel jointly conducted an operation in the Barcharai hills targeting Khawarij militants.
Police said the bodies of the six militants were found in a forested area. Four of the bodies were taken into custody by law enforcement officials.
The slain Khawarij were identified as Khalil ur Rehman alias Saddam, Najamuddin alias Abu dujana, and Kifayatulla. The militants were involved in multiple attacks, including the recent Badwan Bridge police post.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the successful operation against militants in Lower Dir and commended the CTD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and police for their performance.
He said the militants’ “malicious designs” were foiled by the bravery and professionalism of CTD and police personnel.
Naqvi said the nation was proud of the courage and dedication of its law enforcement forces.
Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in militant attacks in recent years particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, bordering Afghanistan, driven by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as Fitna al Khawarij and BLA, also known as Fitna al Hindustan.
Last Year, more than 175,000 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) were conducted against militants and killed 1,890 militants in these counter terrorism operations.
