KARACHI: The terrorist attack was launched on a Rangers transport installation in Karachi on Friday evening, prompting a swift response from security personnel. According to initial reports, the attack took place at approximately 8:10 p.m. on June 27 within the jurisdiction of the Bhittai Rangers Sector Headquarters.
In this regard, Sources said the attackers began the assault by detonating an explosive device near the Rangers transport facility. Shortly after the explosion, an estimated three to four terrorists managed to enter the premises, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire with Rangers personnel stationed inside the compound.
In this sense, the security officials stated that Rangers immediately responded to the attack, engaging the terrorists in a coordinated operation to secure the installation.
The Rangers’ Counter-Terrorism Wing also arrived at the scene and joined the ongoing operation to neutralize the threat. In addition, five terrorists have been killed during the security operation.
So far, the officials further stated that no Rangers personnel have been reported injured so far. The operation remains underway as security forces continue to clear the area and ensure that the installation is fully secured.
The law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the surrounding area while additional security personnel have been deployed to assist in the operation. Investigations are expected to determine the nature of the attack, the planning behind it, and whether the assailants had any external support.
