Police Officer, Army Subedar Martyred in Separate Attacks in KP

PESHAWAR: A police officer and an army non-commissioned officer were martyred in separate militant attacks in northwestern Pakistan.

In the Laki Marwat district’s Ahmad Khel area, a police officer identified as Siddiqullah was shot dead in an attack attributed to militants.

In a separate incident in South Waziristan’s Sararogha area, an exchange of fire took place between security forces and militants. A Pakistan Army Subedar, identified as Tahir, was martyred in the confrontation.

Security sources said militant elements have been targeting security personnel to destabilise law and order and spread fear among the population.

It was stated that such groups also target civilians and infrastructure in an attempt to weaken state institutions.

Officials said search operations were underway and efforts were being made to track down those involved.

Security forces reiterated that militant networks would not be allowed to escape accountability and would be brought to justice.

Tributes were paid to the slain personnel, with the public describing them as heroes who had sacrificed their lives for national security and peace.

Security forces continue operations in the region, according to officials.
