ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday praised the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for its professionalism, sacrifices and role in defending the country’s airspace.
In a message marking Air Force Day on Sept. 7, the prime minister said the PAF had repeatedly demonstrated its capabilities in difficult and wartime situations.
He said the air force had proved its professional competence, expertise and superiority in aerial combat over the past several decades.
“The PAF is a source of national pride. Its history is marked by sacrifice, bravery and professional excellence,” Shehbaz said.
He said the PAF had always responded with exceptional courage and determination whenever the nation called upon it to defend the country.
Recalling the 1965 war with India, Shehbaz said PAF pilots had displayed extraordinary courage and resolve while defending Pakistan’s airspace.
He paid tribute to the personnel who sacrificed their lives in defence of the country.
The prime minister also highlighted the PAF’s role in the Marka-e-Haq confrontation with India in May 2025.
He said the PAF, in coordination with other branches of the armed forces, had confronted the enemy and once again demonstrated its operational capabilities.
Shehbaz attributed the PAF’s performance to bold leadership, the high tactical skills of its combat personnel, effective planning and the integrated use of modern warfare capabilities.
He said the acquisition of advanced technology, the development of indigenous defence capabilities and modern multi-domain warfare capabilities had helped the PAF play an effective role in Marka-e-Haq.
The prime minister said the nation was proud that the PAF had maintained its tradition of confronting the enemy despite limited resources and numerical disadvantages.
He expressed his best wishes for the PAF’s continued professional development and success.
Shehbaz said he was confident that the air force would remain ready to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty and air borders under all circumstances.
