ISPR Confirms Martyrdom of Two Pilots in PAF Training Aircraft Crash in Mardan

RAWALPINDI:  The Pakistan Amry media wing, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed that two pilots of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) were martyred in the trainer aircraft crash in Mardan on Monday.

The ISPR said that Flight Lieutenant Muhammad Qasim Abdullah of the Pakistan Air Force and Lieutenant Taha Abbasi of the Pakistan Navy martyred in the crash. According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations, the trainer aircraft was on routine training.

The aircraft went down in a training flight in northwestern Pakistan. Authorities did not immediately disclose the cause of the accident.

The Air Headquarters has constituted a board of inquiry to determine the cause of the crash, the military said.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, along with the service chiefs and all ranks of the armed forces, expressed grief over the loss of life.

They extended condolences to the families of the martyred officers.

The Pakistan Armed Forces said they share the grief of the bereaved families and are providing full support.

An investigation is underway. Further details are expected after the inquiry board completes its findings.
