The authorities have imposed a complete ban on the entry of vehicles carrying sacrificial animals on motorways during the Eid-ul-Adha season in an effort to ensure public safety and maintain smooth traffic flow.
The decision has been taken to prevent traffic congestion and avoid accidents caused by overloaded and unfit vehicles transporting animals across major highways. The spokesperson stated that such vehicles pose serious risks to commuters, particularly during the busy holiday period when traffic volume significantly increases on motorways.
The move comes in response to several serious accidents reported in previous years involving animal transport vehicles on high-speed roads.
The spokesperson further revealed that the police departments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been instructed to establish special check posts at motorway entry points to strictly enforce the ban.
The administration believes that these preventive measures will help reduce the chances of road accidents and ensure uninterrupted travel for the public during Eid preparations.
The spokesperson warned that strict legal action would be taken against individuals found violating traffic regulations or ignoring approved loading standards.
The announcement comes as preparations for Eid-ul-Adha continue across the country, with cattle markets witnessing increased activity in various cities.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is also scheduled to take place today for the sighting of the moon of Zil Hajj, which will determine the date of Eid-ul-Adha in Pakistan.
