KARACHI: A newlywed couple who had married of their own free will was shot dead near the RCD Ground, adjacent to the Nadra Passport Office, within the jurisdiction of the Saudabad Police Station.
According to police sources, the couple was traveling in a car when attackers opened fire on the vehicle from both sides, leaving them riddled with bullets.
The husband and wife had legally married by choice, and the bride had recorded her official statement in favor of her husband at the Malir Court just hours before the attack.
The ambush took place as they were returning from the court. Both sustained critical injuries and succumbed to their wounds while being rushed to the hospital.
The police have launched a formal investigation into the targeted killing.
