ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad administration on Saturday issued a comprehensive traffic advisory ahead of a special ceremony scheduled to mark the anniversary of Marka-i-Haq, with temporary road closures and traffic diversions expected across various parts of the federal capital on May 10.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon announced that traffic arrangements would remain in effect from 6pm to 12am in connection with the commemorative event to be held at the National Monument near Zero Point.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by senior civilian and military leadership.
The deputy commissioner urged citizens to plan their travel in advance and cooperate with traffic authorities. He advised the public to use alternative routes and avoid unnecessary movement during peak hours to help ensure smooth traffic flow and public convenience.
Similarly, the Islamabad Expressway from Faizabad to Khayaban Chowk will be closed for vehicles heading towards Faisal Avenue.
In this sense, the commuters travelling from the Motorway or Islamabad Chowk towards Bhara Kahu and Murree have been advised to use 9th Avenue and Colonel Sher Khan Road (IJP Road) via Murree Road.
Meanwhile, motorists travelling from Murree and Bhara Kahu towards the Motorway should use Murree Road, Faizabad, IJP Road and 9th Avenue.
The advisory further stated that motorists travelling from the Motorway towards the Red Zone and nearby sectors should use Jinnah Avenue or Margalla Road via 9th Avenue from Peshawar Mor. The residents of the Red Zone heading towards Rawalpindi or the Motorway have also been advised to travel through Margalla Road or Jinnah Avenue.
The advisory added that all light transport vehicles from Rawat T-Cross towards Rawalpindi would be diverted from 5pm till midnight, while the entry of heavy traffic vehicles into Islamabad would remain completely banned from 4am until midnight on May 10.
