Iran warns against military intervention in Strait of Hormuz, cites risk to global energy security

Iran has issued a strong warning against any form of foreign military intervention in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, stating that such actions could escalate tensions and threaten global energy security.

The statement came in response to recent remarks from the United States regarding a possible blockade in the region.

In this regard, Iran’s Ministry of Defense emphasized that the involvement of external powers in the Strait of Hormuz would worsen the existing situation and destabilize international energy markets.

The official underlined that the waterway remains a critical route for global oil shipments, and any disruption could have far-reaching consequences for economies worldwide.

The Iranian spokesperson said that any attempt by the United States to initiate military operations in the Strait of Hormuz or the Sea of عمان would ultimately fail.

The spokesperson maintained that Iran is fully prepared to respond to any threats against its territorial waters and national interests.

Meanwhile, Iran’s military also condemned recent US restrictions on Iranian shipping activities in international waters, labeling them as “acts of piracy.” Military officials warned that if Iranian ports come under threat, the consequences would not be limited to a single area. Instead, they cautioned, the امنیت of ports across both the Gulf of Oman and the wider Persian Gulf region could be compromised.

In addition, an Iranian military spokesperson declared that regional ports must remain open and accessible to all nations equally.

“Either the Gulf’s ports will be safe and open for everyone, or they will not be secure for anyone,” the official said, highlighting Iran’s stance on shared regional stability.

The Strait of Hormuz is widely regarded as one of the world’s most vital النفط transit chokepoints, with a significant portion of global energy supplies passing through it daily. Analysts warn that any escalation in the region could lead to higher oil prices and increased geopolitical uncertainty.
