Gwadar Port maintains smooth operations as International Cargo Vessel arrives amid regional maritime tensions

GWADAR: The commercial operations at Gwadar Port continued without disruption despite ongoing regional maritime tensions, as another international transhipment vessel arrived at the port, mentioning the increasing global confidence in Pakistan’s strategic deep-sea maritime facility.

The Bangladesh-flagged cargo vessel M/V Jahan Brothers II reached Gwadar Port after sailing from Singapore. The vessel is carrying 53,064.660 tonnes of prime steel billets, which are ultimately destined for Al Hamriyah Port in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In this sense, the port authorities said the shipment is part of a transhipment operation. The cargo will be temporarily unloaded and stored at Gwadar Port before being transferred to another vessel for onward transportation to the UAE.

The operation reflects the port’s expanding role in facilitating regional trade and international logistics.

The uninterrupted movement of cargo also indicates the growing confidence of international shipping operators in Gwadar Port’s infrastructure and services.

Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Noor-ul-Haq Baloch said the continuation of commercial and port operations during a period of heightened regional uncertainty indicates Gwadar’s emergence as a safe, reliable and efficient regional trade hub.

He noted that the port is steadily strengthening its position as an alternative trade route for regional and international commerce. According to the chairman, Gwadar’s strategic location, modern facilities and uninterrupted operations are enhancing its attractiveness for global shipping and logistics companies.
