GWADAR: The port of Gwadar in Balochistan has officially launched marine bunkering services for commercial vessels, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s maritime history.
By successfully completing its first marine bunkering operation, Pakistan has now established a standardized and internationally certified fueling network across all three of its major commercial ports—Gwadar, Karachi, and Port Qasim.
During this historic operation, the foreign-flagged LNG carrier LNG ENUGU was supplied with 2,500 metric tons of Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO), which met international standards set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
This fuel was produced locally by the Cnergyico PK Limited refinery, while the bunkering process was executed by the global energy company Vitol, using its bunkering barge Marine Ista, in collaboration with the National Logistics Corporation (NLC).
This development integrates Pakistan’s national marine bunkering system into a unified framework supported by Vitol Bunkers, NLC, and Cnergyico PK Limited, operating under the Pakistan Single Window system and electronic customs marine bunkering rules.
With this achievement, Pakistan is now positioned to provide refueling facilities comparable to major regional hubs like Fujairah and Singapore, extending its maritime fuel supply capabilities beyond Karachi and Port Qasim to include Gwadar.
