ISLAMABAD: Afghanistan once again fired mortar shells into civilian areas near the Angoor Adda border region of South Waziristan, targeting Pakistan’s civilian population.
One of the mortar shells landed on the house of local residents Karim Khan and Rahmatullah. The explosion injured five people, including four children and one woman. The injured children are aged thirteen, ten, eight, and three years.
All the injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital Wana for medical treatment.
Local residents expressed deep sorrow and concern over the incident.
It is also noted that a few days earlier, three people were injured in a similar unprovoked firing incident in the same area from across the border.
Security sources stated that Pakistani forces responded by targeting the firing positions with small and heavy weapons, after which the opposing side abandoned their posts and retreated.
