QUETTA : In a brazen daylight robbery, an alleged militant affiliated with the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) stole a motorcycle from Quetta’s Eastern Bypass on Monday, an incident that was captured on surveillance cameras.
The theft occurred around 11:00 AM near the Malakhel stop, within the jurisdiction of Quetta Police Station Manzoor Shaheed. The motorcycle belonged to a citizen identified as Abdullah, who had parked his vehicle in front of Sharecat Traders at the time of the incident.
According to police sources, CCTV footage obtained from the area shows the suspect approaching the motorcycle without hesitation, skillfully starting the ignition, and fleeing the scene.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, though no arrests have been reported so far. The stolen motorcycle has not yet been recovered.
The incident has raised concerns about security in the area, which falls under the jurisdiction of a police station named after a martyred officer. Local residents have expressed apprehension over the increasing frequency of such incidents in broad daylight.
This is not an isolated occurrence, as sources indicate that BLA militants, allegedly backed by foreign sponsors, have been systematically targeting the economic livelihoods of Baloch citizens through such thefts and robberies.
Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Further investigation is underway.
