Trump: I threatened trade sanctions to stop Pak-India war

WASHINGTON: Former U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed that the United States played a pivotal role in brokering the ceasefire between Pakistan and India amid rising tensions. Speaking about the crisis, Trump said the situation had significantly deteriorated before the U.S. stepped in to de-escalate it.

He warned that the confrontation was heading toward a catastrophic outcome that could have claimed millions of lives in the region.

Trump stated that Washington issued a stern warning to both Islamabad and New Delhi, threatening to sever trade relations if they failed to de-escalate hostilities. He emphasized that this pressure was instrumental in halting the conflict.
