Quetta: Quetta experienced yet another prolonged power outage during the night, affecting several areas of the city due to a breakdown in the electricity supply system. According to a local TV report, the breakdown occurred late at night, plunging multiple neighborhoods into darkness.
Areas including Sheikh Manda, Airport Road, Western Bypass, and nearby localities remained without power for several hours.
Officials from QESCO confirmed that the affected feeders are currently under inspection and that the technical fault is expected to be resolved soon.
However, beyond this recent incident, residents continue to endure unannounced and prolonged loadshedding, which has severely disrupted daily life.
Locals expressed their frustration, stating that power outages have become routine, with electricity available for only a few hours each day.
“We’re more surprised when there’s no outage than when there is,” one resident remarked.
The issue isn’t limited to households alone; commercial consumers are also grappling with immense hardships, as businesses struggle to function amidst the frequent and extended power interruptions.
The frequent power outages in Quetta are primarily caused by technical faults, outdated infrastructure, and overloading of feeders.
Sudden breakdowns in the electricity supply system, especially during peak hours, worsen the situation.
Lack of timely maintenance and limited investment in the power sector further contribute to the recurring issues.
As a result, residents face severe disruptions in daily life, with limited access to electricity for essential needs.
Businesses suffer financial losses due to interrupted operations, students struggle with studies, and the overall quality of life deteriorates.
Prolonged outages also impact healthcare facilities and increase reliance on costly alternative power sources.
