NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Security forces killed eight militants during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a military statement issued on Thursday.
The operation was conducted after reports of the presence of militants in the area, the statement said.
The militants’ hideouts were destroyed during the operation, while a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and other equipment was recovered.
According to the military, the militants attempted to use a mosque as a shield during the operation.
Security forces, however, carried out the operation with what the statement described as “utmost precision and skill” while respecting the sanctity of the mosque.
The military said security forces remained determined to eliminate militants from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
