KALAT: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti praised the security forces for what he described as their timely and effective action against the terrorists.
The security forces killed five terrorists and safely recovered 23 abducted people during an operation near Kalat in Balochistan.
The operation was carried out after militants attempted to establish a checkpoint along the Chaman-Karachi N-25 national highway to disrupt the movement of people and vehicles.
In this regard, as per the ISPRAccording to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the militants were allegedly involved in abductions for ransom, extortion and vehicle snatching.
Security Forces Launch Prompt Operation
As per the media wing, the security forces responded promptly after the militants attempted to disrupt public movement on the vital highway.
An intense exchange of fire followed, resulting in the deaths of five terrorists.
The operation targeted a hideout associated with the militants, where security forces also recovered 23 abducted individuals.
The successful recovery of the abductees prevented the continuation of what authorities described as an attempt to target civilians travelling along the national highway.
Security forces recovered six trucks, three buses and two cars from the militants’ hideout, according to ISPR. A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also seized during the operation.
The operation came as security forces continued counter-terrorism activities across Balochistan. Authorities said sanitisation operations were continuing in surrounding areas to identify and eliminate any remaining threats and to maintain security along important national highways.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti praised the security forces for what he described as their timely and effective action against the militants.
Bugti said the protection of citizens, their property and national highways remained a priority. He also reiterated the provincial government’s stated commitment to continuing counter-terrorism efforts in Balochistan.
The chief minister further said state institutions remained committed to addressing terrorism and what authorities describe as foreign-supported militancy in the province.
Counter-Terrorism Operations Continue
The latest operation comes amid intensified security operations against militant groups in Balochistan. ISPR said sanitisation efforts were continuing around the area following the Kalat operation.

The military’s media wing has said that counter-terrorism efforts under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework will continue, with security forces and law-enforcement agencies maintaining measures aimed at protecting civilians and vital transportation routes.
