RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and China reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their all-weather strategic partnership and promoting regional peace and stability during a ceremony marking the 99th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) on Friday.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong attended the event as the chief guest. Chinese Defence Attaché Maj. Gen. Wang Zhong, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior officers from Pakistan’s Army, Navy and Air Force also participated.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir welcomed the guests and congratulated the PLA on its 99th founding anniversary.
He praised the PLA’s contribution to China’s national defence, economic development and efforts to promote global peace and security.
Munir described Pakistan-China ties as unique, time-tested and resilient despite changing regional and global dynamics.
He said the armed forces of Pakistan and the PLA remained true strategic partners, bound by mutual trust, unwavering cooperation and a shared commitment to safeguarding regional peace, stability and common strategic interests.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang reaffirmed Beijing’s steadfast support for Pakistan and pledged to further strengthen the two countries’ all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
He also thanked Field Marshal Munir for hosting the ceremony and commended Pakistan’s armed forces for their sacrifices and contributions in the fight against terrorism.
The event underscored the close military and diplomatic relationship between Islamabad and Beijing, which have expanded defence cooperation and strategic coordination in recent years.
