QUETTA: The Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Quetta, where he held a key meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti before jointly chairing a high-level meeting to review the province’s overall law and order situation and counterterrorism strategy.
In this regard, the Chief Minister Bugti briefed the interior minister on the prevailing security environment, ongoing counterterrorism operations, and the government’s future strategy aimed at strengthening peace and stability across the province.
The meeting agreed to immediately implement decisions aimed at enhancing the professional capacity of the Balochistan Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
In this sense, both sides also confirmed their commitment to strengthening the police force, while the Ministry of Interior pledged continued support by ensuring the timely provision of all required resources and operational assistance.
However, the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the federal government would extend every possible support to establish lasting peace in Balochistan.
He stressed that the effective and immediate implementation of the province’s comprehensive peace master plan was essential to improving the security situation.
Naqvi further stated that the experience and professional expertise of former inspectors general of the Balochistan Police would also be utilized to strengthen the province’s security framework.
He focused on that the fight against terrorism would be reinforced through the use of modern technology, effective intelligence gathering, and a coordinated security strategy.
He added that the federal and provincial governments would continue to work in close collaboration to ensure sustained peace and stability.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti reasserted that the provincial government would remain proactive in combating terrorism and would not succumb to any form of pressure.
He said the writ of the state would be upheld under all circumstances and that no space would be allowed for terrorist elements to operate within the province.
The chief minister also mentioned the government’s commitment to empowering young people by expanding access to education, vocational training, employment opportunities, and constructive social initiatives.
He said transparent, merit-based recruitment systems were being implemented to restore public confidence and provide equal opportunities for the youth.
