The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to begin preparations for local government elections in Punjab.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah. In this regard, the party office-bearers were instructed to start preparations for the upcoming local government elections and strengthen the party’s presence at the grassroots level.
During the meeting, Rana Sanaullah directed party leaders and workers to conduct an active campaign at the division, district, tehsil and union council levels.
The instructions indicate that the party intends to strengthen its organisational network ahead of the local polls.
The leaders have been asked to engage with party workers and communities at different administrative levels as preparations move forward.
The focus on union councils and other grassroots structures is particularly significant for local government elections, where direct engagement with voters and local-level organisation can play an important role.
The strategy can be compared to building a political campaign from the ground up, with each local unit forming part of a larger provincial network.
Focus on Grassroots-Level Organisation
Rana Sanaullah’s directives place considerable emphasis on mobilisation beyond major cities and provincial-level political activity.
The party officials are expected to coordinate campaign efforts across divisions, districts and tehsils while also strengthening activity at the union council level.
The move comes as political parties prepare to establish their positions ahead of local government elections in Punjab. Local bodies play an important role in addressing community-level issues and providing municipal and public services.
The meeting also included discussion on the issue of creating new provinces.
However, the main focus of the meeting remained preparations for local government elections and strengthening the party’s organisational structure across Punjab.
