KP Police to Curb Militant Use of Mining Explosives

PESHAWAR: In a major step to bolster the safety of foreign experts, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have launched an integrated and modern security system designed to ensure foolproof protection for Chinese nationals and other foreign residents across the province.

According to police officials, the initiative includes the establishment of the first modern command and control room dedicated to the Special Security Unit (SSU). The force has also deployed the SSU’s inaugural special squad at Bacha Khan International Airport, where personnel will provide round-the-clock security services.

In a unique move to bridge communication gaps, the deployed officers have successfully completed a specialized Chinese language course, enabling them to effectively assist and interact with Chinese citizens.

As part of the comprehensive security overhaul, police have formulated a 28-point security plan to safeguard the movement of Chinese and other foreign nationals within the province. Detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have also been developed for access to and transit between various project sites, in coordination with federal agencies.

The newly established Central Command and Control Unit will oversee the complete security of foreign convoys from departure to destination, using a modern computerized system to transmit real-time information to all districts. The command room will continuously monitor the live location of convoys, while a special emergency hotline has been provided to Chinese citizens for immediate contact in case of any untoward incident.

Police officials emphasized that the command and control room will remain active at all times, ensuring a swift response to any emergency and guaranteeing the continuous safety of all foreign residents, particularly Chinese nationals working in the region.
